MinBC Elected Chair of Mindanao Electric Power Alliance

The Mindanao Business Council (MinBC) has been elected to chair the Mindanao Electric Power Alliance (MEPA), an island-wide aggrupation composed of 33 stakeholder organizations of the Mindanao power industry.  During the MEPA General Assembly held last 6-7 April 2010 in Cagayan de Oro City, the MinBC, represented by its Chairperson Vicente T. Lao, was elected by his fellow members of the Board of Trustees of MEPA to lead the alliance for a term of one (1) year.

 

Mindanao Private Sector to Lead Resolution of Power Crisis

Mr. Vic Lao, Chairman of the Mindanao Business Council, announced today that the private sector in Mindanao will procure the required power generators to address the power crisis. “We can no longer wait for the government to address the crisis.  The EPIRA  anyway has sufficient provisions to allow us to solve the problem ourselves,” according to Mr. Lao. “ Our power situation is already becoming very serious.  We did not expect the shortage of this magnitude to hit us this early.  We thought the 484 MW shortage will still hit us by 2014 , but its already here.  So we just have to move and try to solve our problem”

   

MinBC Renews Cooperation with United States Commercial Services

Mindanao Business Council (MinBC) Chairman Vicente T. Lao and Executive Director Jason C. Magnaye recently met with United States Commercial Services Senior Commercial Officer Patrick T. Wall to discuss possible areas of partnership including the promotion of clean and renewable energy technologies and solutions in Mindanao.

   

MEPA Conveys Position on Agus-Pulangi Privatization

Mindanao Business Council (MinBC) Chairman Vicente T. Lao conveyed in behalf of the 30-strong members of Mindanao Electric Power Alliance (MEPA) the body’s stand on the Agus-Pulangi Hydro Complex Privatization during the Power Stakeholders’ Meeting organized recently by the Department of Energy in Davao City.

   

MinBC Offers Support to Agri - Competitiveness Project

Mindanao Business Council Executive Director Jason C. Magnaye recently met with ACDI/VOCA Regional Director for South East Asia Adam Keatts for a consultation on the study being conducted by the said organization on the Value Chain Analysis of the priority crops – coconut, cocoa and rice.
